Over 50 students from 5th class primary school in Fañabe took part in a visit to the EDAM La Caleta water desalination plant on Thursday February 17th where they discussed the culture and treatment of water as an integral part of our society.  This initiative is part of the ‘Bitácora’ municipal education project working with Entemanser who manage the water systems for the borough and promote the ‘Rumbo al Planeta 2030 (around the world 2030) campaign.

Also present were the councillors for culture and education, María Clavijo Maza, for municipal services, Esther Rivero Vargas and the head of services for Entemanser Adeje, Pedro Gómez de Ayala.

The idea is, said Clavijo Maza, to “make students aware of water treatment that is essential, from its extraction from the sea to what comes out of your taps at home”.

Pedro Gómez de Ayala, added, “in Entemanser we have worked for many years to see this desalination plant in action where 10 million litres of water are treated daily…for us is it important that people learn from an early age where their water comes from and why it is important to care for it”.

The visits were carried out in small groups to ensure that all pupils were able to see first-hand how the plant works, and to adhere to current Covid restrictions.
