The Adeje department of youth affairs, under councillor Carmen Lucía Rodríguez del Toro, has resumed the ‘Recréate’ programme, made up of a diverse range of activities to encourage participation among young people.

“Following the suspension of much during the pandemic we are happy to be able to reactivate in-person activities both in the Adeje youth centre as well as in schools in the borough”, said the councillor.

‘Recréate’ (recreate) has three fundamental axis – participation among young people, coaching, and young talent.  The first part works through many of the borough’s public educational centres, during break times, in conjunction with people from the council, designing different games and activities.

Youth coaching is designed to offer different ways of communicating, dialogue, opening up discussion on different themes, values promoting positive personal development.  One recent activity involved Mamen Marqúez, a vocal coach from a Spanish television talent programme, and physical trainer Alicia Benítez, working with groups from Adeje’s secondary schools.

The section on talent will reintroduce the youth prizes for talent from the council for academic achievements in 4th year secondary students and those studying at Bachillerato level.
