They are working in teams to clean up a series of barrancos, road edges and other natural sectors in Adeje

Adeje’s department of parks and gardens, under the guidance of councillors Esther Rivero Vargas and Maikel Álvarez, and in conjunction with EMSA, the municipal services company for Adeje, have launched project ‘Fluye’ (flow), which is designed to clear and clean up a series of barrancos, road boundaries and other natural sectors of the borough. This includes maintenance work, pruning, weeding and removal of rubbish and dumped items in the zones.
The project has seen 25 people employed who were previously registered as unemployed and potentially at risk of social exclusion. They have a six month contract and will be trained in the work they are carrying out. The zones they are clearing are natural drainage areas in the borough, and it is important that they are kept clear of rubbish to avoid any flooding in the case of heavy rainfall. The project direction is within the remit of integrated biological guidelines that promote sustainability and respect for the environment, and is under the direction of EMSA who oversee green zone maintenance, gardens, and machinery that may be necessary for the project.
The team will be working in different parts of the borough including barrancos in Las Torres, Roque del Conde and El Inglés, along the Calle Bentinerfe, Torviscas Alto, San Eugenio alto, and Callao Salvaje.
