Adeje is scheduling a busy summer of activities for younger people

There will be a range of fun events, designed to offer healthy leisure options

4 june 2021
Adeje’s youth area, under councillor Daniel Melo Rodriguez, has drawn up a schedule of summer activities for the borough’s younger members. The programme is diverse, promoting fun in the open air, in the sea, the mountains or the towns and villages, as well as virtual workshops, sporting challenges such as air hockey, ping pong, billiards, and a lot more.

The programme is designed for young people between the ages of 14 to 30 who are on the Adeje resident ‘padrón’ and participants will have to register in advance. If any activity is over-subscribed a reserve list will be created.  Registration is open from June 15th by calling 922 78 18 08 or calling into the Youth Centre in person.  All activities take place outside the home will cost €5 for a young person who is a registered resident of Adeje (those who are not residents of Adeje may apply, with a slightly higher cost per activity if places are available).  Full information regarding all the activities is available online, www.adeje.es

According to the councillor, “it’s time to have some fun, we have gone through a year of restrictions, we underwent a lockdown and a very different school year, more intense and complicated, many students have to take their classes in the afternoons and evenings or online, and in many cases people lost a family member as a result of Covid. Young people need a break too, and with many of the local population vaccinated, as long as people continue to follow the basic protection norms in place, we can create some fun times this summer. Our young people can socialise a bit more, have fun outdoors, with healthy activities”.

The programme of events will roll out during July and August, and will include ‘Aventura Azul’ (kayaking, surfing, and boat trips) on July 7th, a cinema afternoon on July 9th, jet-skiing on July 14th, and lots more. There will be rambles combined with boat trips from Santiago del Teide to Los Gigantes, mountain biking, a trip up Teide and a star-gazing outing too in August.  Paint-ball, karting, and surf skating adventures are also on the agenda.

Indoor fun will include ping-pong, a FIFA-online tournament, billiards, online chess, air hockey, and much more, details are online. The youth centre will also be offering workshops in personal development, virtual reality and sexual awareness.
