The XVIII Adeje Book Fair celebrated the publication of two new books, co-published by the council, looking back to different points in the evolution of the borough.

Nelson Díaz Fríaz is a well-known law expert and author, from Arona, with a number of highly respected books on different aspects of South Tenerife already under his belt.  His latest book, El Presbitero, Diego García De Acevedo (1713 – 1769), looks at the life and times of some of great relevance to this zone during the 18th century, reflecting the society of the times, the socioeconomic feudal system in place in Adeje, and the evolution of the split of Arona and Filaflor de Chasna.

According to Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga the book “outlines the importance of Adeje and the south of Tenerife many centuries ago…it helps us discover where we came from and above all who we are and where we are going”.

Secondary school teacher and doctor of history in the University of La Laguna, Rosa Pérez Barrios’ book looks at a specific development in the provision of education in Adeje, with the El colegio libre adoptado de Adeje (1970 – 1975), looking at the importance of public education and  the role of teachers in a community.
