People can sign up for a number of course but only undertake one at a time

21 april 2021
Adeje council’s department of economic development and employment policies have just launched a series of free online courses designed to improve employment opportunities and training skills in the borough.  The programme will be renewed every three weeks with different courses on offer.  In the first batch there are language courses, courses on electronic commerce, accountancy, and on auxiliary nursing skills.  Registration takes place from April 22 to May 2 via gruposhine.com/formacionaytoadeje/ and the first training round begins on May 10th running to May 28th.

“During the year we will be programming a series of training courses to reach as many people as possible, with a range of topics and subjects on offer. Courses geared for those currently unemployed, those without any professional qualifications, young and old. Different people have distinct needs and the courses are designed to offer different opportunities in helping people join the labour market”, said the councillor responsible, Raquel Rodríguez Alonso.

To take part in one of the courses you must be on the Adeje ‘padrón’, currently unemployed and registered with the Canarian Employment Service (with a ‘Darde’ number) and have signed up to the Adeje jobseeker register.  The courses are also open to people who are on ERTE.

The councillor added, “one of the conditions will be that if you are actually registered for a course you cannot simultaneously register for another – we want to reach as many people as possible.  When you are finished one course then you may sign up for another”.

Among the courses on offer are German A1 (100 hours), Basic English (50 hours), and English for commercial purposes (75 hours).  There are also virtual office courses where people can learn to use word and excel (40 hours each course).

The course on electronic commerce (50 hours) will teach students the basic concepts, sales, etc., that are needed to operate a business electronically, where they will also learn about setting up and operating virtual shops, etc.

There are also courses on accountancy (75 hours) and another on client care and loyalty in small and medium businesses (25 hours).

The course on becoming a nursing auxiliary (75 hours) will teach basic hygiene techniques when caring for patients, diets, administration of medicines, protocols and care plans.
