From today, September 1st, 10 individuals hoping to become members of the local police force and who have passed the initial testing phase, are starting their integration training programme, designed to teach them the roles and rules of the local police department as well as how other areas of local government function.

The 10 aspiring candidates have to complete 10 practical programmes, based in the local police headquarters in Las Torres and Fañabe. They will also be receiving training from representatives from the Canarian Government Department of Security and Emergencies.

The programme of practical and theory classes is geared towards giving the new agents a general overview of the functioning of the local police administration and operations, learning too about traffic and road safety, how to process reports and complaints from the public, the structure and functions of different bodies, data base systems, development and administration in relation to their tasks and communication with the general public.

The training is given by different heads of the local police in Adeje, as well as administrative personnel.  Experts from other areas within local government will also be leading sessions on good governance, and the prevention of work-based accidents, for example.
