The Benjamín Adeje A and B, Alevín B and C teams from the Adeje School of Football and the Chenet infants group have won the Tenerife Football Federation Balón de Oro (Golden Ball) now in its 6th year.

At the same time the Adeje B infants team received a prize, ‘Modelos referents de oro’ (Gold; models of excellence) for their excellent behaviour and how they train and play by the ethics code of the club even during complicated episodes on the pitch, including one occasion when one of the players asked the referee to excuse the behaviour of some of the fans on the side-lines.

“We are extremely pleased to see our young people being awarded this prize”, said councillor for sports Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, adding that “this is also a prize for the work done to ensure fair play, which is encouraged by all of our football teams, and is a pat on the back for the players as well as the technical and professional teams”.  In fact, said the councillor, “it is a mark of the excellence of the work of everyone involved in recent years and of the families too and the example they set”.

The Tenerife Football Federation announced the winners on their social networks. These prizes were created with the clear objective being to recognise team work and the values promoted by fair play.
