The themed gardening complements the lighting and other decorative elements of Christmas in Adeje

The colours of Christmas have begun to transform the urban landscape of Adeje. Since Tuesday 9 December, gardens, roundabouts and public spaces have already been displaying the first poinsettias of the extensive floral display that Adeje Town Hall, through the Municipal Services Company (EMSA), has begun planting throughout the municipality. Over the coming days, gardening teams will distribute 15,000 plants, 25 per cent more than last year, to enhance the Christmas atmosphere in streets and neighbourhoods.

“The aim of this year’s display is to further enhance the municipality’s public spaces,” said the councillor for Works, Municipal Services and Good Governance, Epifanio Díaz Hernández, who explained that the increase in plants meets the need of “ensuring the presence of Christmas in every area of Adeje, with particular attention to access points, parks and high-traffic locations”.

The operation includes placing poinsettias in green areas, main access routes and emblematic locations, following a planting plan prepared by EMSA over recent days, which included prior ground preparation work. This intervention complements the special lighting, the decorative elements installed in different areas of the municipality and the background music that accompany the arrival of the festive season.

Adeje Town Hall, through EMSA, has taken the opportunity at the start of the campaign to ask the public for civic and respectful behaviour regarding the planting of the poinsettias. The department wants the public to remember that the poinsettias form part of the collective decoration of the municipality and they should not be removed or damaged, so that they can remain in perfect condition throughout the Christmas period and be enjoyed by everyone.

This initiative forms part of the municipal plan for themed gardening linked to seasons and significant dates, a strategy that incorporates sustainability criteria, efficient use of resources and the selection of species suited to the local climate. Through these actions, Adeje Town Hall is enhancing the image of the zone with a plan that is respectful of the environment and consistent with the municipality’s visual identity throughout the year.
