Costa Adeje will debut the first Blue Market this December bank holiday, an event created to bring contemporary local products closer to those who visit and live in the municipality. The event, organised by Adeje Town Hall’s Department of Tourism Destination and Sustainability, Innovation and Modernisation, will take place on 5, 6 and 7 December, from 5pm to 11pm, in the Plaza de Salytien, and will bring together more than thirty artists from the island.
Adeje Town Hall’s councillor for Tourism, Patricia Paulsen Fölling, explained that Blue Market “is created as a space to promote local commerce, encourage new business opportunities, and highlight products made with identity, tradition and creativity”. She added that “for a destination like Costa Adeje it is essential to have a high-quality commercial offer, in line with other values of the municipality such as the environment, climate, sport, accommodation offer, or gastronomy. Proposals like Blue Market complement that offer and generate real differentiation through local talent”.
Over the three days, the square will become an open and free meeting point with stalls featuring crafts, fashion, and food proposals made on the island. Pieces created in workshops and studios across Tenerife will take centre stage, reinforcing the municipal strategy of supporting small local businesses and promoting a more conscious, territory-based consumption model.
The project director, Cristina Hernández, who is also behind initiatives such as Le Good Market, highlighted the growth of small local brands and the role of events like this one. “The proliferation of small local brands in recent years has been a real boom, and the island of Tenerife is a first-class creative hub. Social media and events like Blue Market help showcase the work of all these emerging brands, and for this, institutional support is key.”
Blue Market aims to establish itself as a regular feature on Costa Adeje’s pre-Christmas calendar, offering tourists and residents authentic and distinctive proposals that combine design, crafts and flavours from the local area. Live music, a maritime setting, and a variety of exhibitors complete an experience designed to be enjoyed with family, as a couple, or with friends.
