Adeje Town Hall held the awards ceremony of the fifteenth “Certamen de Cacharros” on 26 November, an event consolidated in the educational and cultural calendar of the municipality which highlights the creativity of the students and the importance of recycling as an artistic and awareness-raising tool.

The event took place in the Auditorio de Adeje, and was attended by the deputy mayor responsible for the Department of Culture, Education and Sport, Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, and the councillor for Education, Coraima Afonso Navarro, accompanied by representatives of the sponsoring companies UTE Adeje Ascan Torrabonaf and Entemanser Aqualia.

The contest was held under the slogan “ReutilizARTE: recrea, reutiliza, revoluciona” (Re-use ART: recreate, reuse, revolutionise), inviting students to reflect on recycling, sustainability and the creative possibilities of reusing materials. During the event, a commemorative video was shown and the manifesto of the Educating Cities programme was read, reinforcing the municipal commitment to inclusive education and community values.

The jury, established according to the rules of the contest and made up of representatives of the Town Hall and the collaborating companies, assessed the works based on creativity, originality, relevance to the theme and their awareness-raising capacity. The jury congratulated the high level of participation and the quality of the entries from Adeje's schools.

During the ceremony, the prizes for each school were awarded. These consisted of vouchers for school materials valued at 70, 50 and 30 euros, as well as certificates. Students receiving an honourable mention were given a merit certificate, and all prize-winners also received a family voucher to attend a children’s show during the Christmas holidays at the Auditorio de Adeje.

The jury congratulated all participating students and highlighted the educational value of the contest, which promotes art, reuse and sustainability from the earliest stages. The event concluded with an artistic performance and an invitation to visit the exhibition of “cacharros”, which will remain on display in the reception area of Adeje Cultural Centre until 3 December.
