Seventeen establishments are taking part in the ‘Degusta.me’ tapas route, which will take place in the Open Commercial Zone of Adeje Centre, with the aim of boosting local commerce and leisure in the municipality.
Bars, cafés, restaurants and tascas will be showcasing gastronomic creativity and the richness of local produce until 16 November, in an initiative organised by Adeje Town Hall’s Department of Economic Development and Employment in collaboration with the Asociación de Empresarios, Comerciantes y Profesionales de Adeje (AECPA) and the Hovima group.
The participating public can enjoy a varied gastronomic offer at a single price of 4 euros, tapa and drink included, or 3 euros for the tapa only.
Adeje’s councillor for the Promotion of Economic Activity and Employment, Mercedes Vargas Delgado, highlights that this event is one of the most important gastronomic events for the municipality.
The main objective of this project is to promote “Adeje’s culinary richness”, as well as “the establishments and the professional people from the gastronomic sector who we have in the municipality”, the councillor adds.
The councillor for Economic Development and Employment, Alberto Álvarez Jiménez, explains that, as in previous editions, the participating establishments “will compete for the recognitions of the Tapa de Oro, Tapa de Plata, Tapa de Bronce and Special Award for the Professional Tapa”.
These awards represent recognition from both the popular jury and the professional jury. The Tapa de Oro, Plata and Bronce are chosen by public vote and reward the three highest rated proposals with a diploma and gift vouchers of 300, 200 and 100 euros, respectively.
The Special Award for the Professional Tapa is given by an expert jury from the gastronomic sector, which evaluates aspects such as flavour, presentation and culinary technique. This prize also includes a diploma and a 300 euro voucher.
Alberto Álvarez explains that, among the prizes to encourage public participation, the gold prize stands out, “which includes 2 nights in a 4 star hotel for 2 people, all inclusive, as well as a breakfast, lunch or dinner in the establishment that wins the Tapa de Oro”.
Tourist train service and free taxis
In this sixteenth edition of the Muestras Gastronómicas ‘Degusta.me’ there will be a free taxi service in the three main areas: Tijoco-La Hoya, Armeñime and Fañabé, with the aim of making travelling to and from the town centre easier. This is in addition to the tourist train that runs through the area.
Two eight seat taxis per area will provide the service with transfers every 15 minutes. Outbound routes will run from 6 pm to 8 pm, and return routes from 9 pm to 11 pm.
The tourist train starts its route at the football pitch, with stops at the Galeón Shopping Centre, Los Olivos Church, La Viña and the cultural centre, ending at the health centre.
This free transport service will not operate on 7 and 9 November at the football pitch stop due to the Morat concert, on [those evenings the route will start at the second stop, on Avenida Rosa de los Vientos (El Galeón).
On Saturday 8 November there will be no train, bus or taxi service for organisational reasons. Normal operations will resume on Sunday 9 November.
