Adeje Town Hall has initiated several free training programmes in cooking and pastry-making, aimed at 60 individuals with updated Registration and Renewal Document (DARDE), based in the Costa Adeje Tourism Development Centre (CDTCA).
The first training started in April and will conclude next Tuesday, 20th May, a day before the next course begins.
Alberto Álvarez Jiménez, Councillor for Economic Development and Employment, highlights that Adeje Town Hall continues to prioritise training as a "key tool" to enhance employability among residents. These professional certificates represent a "real opportunity" to acquire highly sought-after skills in the hospitality sector.
The ccooking course is at level 2 competency, requiring either completion of compulsory second level education (ESO), a level 1 certificate in the same field, key competencies at levels 2 or 3, or level 2 or 3 certificates from any other professional field, access for those over 25 or 45 years old, or access tests for intermediate cycle degrees. The other two courses do not require prior academic qualifications.
Regarding start dates, the cookery training will commence on 19th May, classes from 8am to 2pm running until 14th November 2025. Meanwhile, the kitchens operations certificate will start on 9th June and finish on 5th September 2025, classes from 3pm to 9pm. The basic pastry course will start on 1st July and finish on 23rd September 2025, classes from 8am to 2pm.
All courses include 80 hours of non-labour practical training, preparing participants for entry into the job market with newly acquired skills. Courses will be in Spanish.
To participate, registration as a job seeker is required, and course applications should be made by calling 012. Anyone interested, regardless of where they are living, can obtain more information by emailing formacionfpe@adeje.es or calling 922 756 249.
Courses are conducted at CDTCA, an accredited center registered with the Canarian Employment Service (SCE). This free initiative is co-financed by the Government of the Canary Islands, the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy through the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) for specialised training, and by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports for the professional certification.
