The Canary Islands, and Tenerife in particular, have a unique set of conditions that favour the presence of various species of cetaceans in their waters. One of the key locations for whale and dolphin watching is the Teno-Rasca Marine Strip, designated a Special Area of Conservation, which is home to the greatest cetacean biodiversity in Europe.
As part of this activity, an environmental clean-up will take place on Fañabé beach, concluding with a boat trip for whale and dolphin watching.
The event is open to over 18s, is listed as 'low' in difficulty, includes a picnic lunch and is free but registration is required. Information and registration link is here: https://regeneratenerife.com/itinerario-ambiental-en-el-litoral-y-observacion-de-cetaceos-en-adeje/
REGENERATe is a space created by the island and local bodies, for collective reflection aimed at fostering public participation and raising awareness about the importance of preserving and enhancing Tenerife’s natural environments through the principles and values of regenerative tourism.
It embraces a comprehensive and holistic vision of the territory, engaging both visitors and residents in the need to interact respectfully with the environment. The goal is to create a positive impact and leave the destination in a better state than before—not only in environmental terms but also by supporting the local economy, improving quality of life, and promoting respect for and integration of culture and heritage.
