For the third year running, the urban summer camp "Agüita 24," meant 25 young people from the Adeje have had an unforgettable experience this summer. This camp, which has become a hallmark of Adeje's School of Second Opportunities, focuses on encouraging the participants' overall development, both personally and socially, within a safe and healthy leisure environment.
This time sport was one of the main pillars. Those taking part enjoyed a day at Nexsport and activities at Tenerife Top Training, along with a morning of kayaking and snorkelling. Environmental awareness also played a key role in "Agüita 24," as they had the chance to explore the biodiversity at the Palmetum in Santa Cruz.
All the activities in "Agüita 24" were carefully designed to create a space where differences and individualities are not only respected but also embraced, promoting both individual and collective growth. The camp focuses on developing transferable skills, ensuring equal opportunities, and fostering social skills, offering the young participants an environment of respect, inclusion, and continuous learning.
Adeje's School of Second Opportunities started in October 2021, and since then, over 250 young people have taken part in its activities. The project is a result of collaboration between Adeje Council and the Don Bosco Foundation, aimed at helping young people find employment or successfully re-enter the education system.
The project is built around five key areas: innovative training, boosting basic and job-related skills, practical experiences linked to the business world, support for social needs, and promoting healthy leisure and free-time activities for young people in Adeje.
