Tourists spent on average €1,331 in 2022, up 15% on pre-pandemic levels

The figures were released by the AMTC, the association of tourism municipalities

5 april 2023

The average spend per tourist in the Canary Islands rose by 15% since the pandemic, rising from €1,157 to €1,331 since 2019, a sign of the strong recovery of the industry in the Canary Islands according to the AMTC, the association of tourism municipalities.

The most recent figures are from the Canarian statistics institute, Istac, and are backed up by studies from other financial bodies. And while some of the rise can be attribued simply to rising costs in general, there is also a recognition of a strong economic viability in the sector.
