Adeje’s department of economic development and employment politics has led the first Adeje Innova Encounter, an event which has invited people in the business industry to come together to share ideas and practical solutions to business problems working towards the creation of a borough that is seen as a reference point in innovative practices. Department councillor Raquel Ródriguez Alonso heralded the importance of such developments, “Leading this first meeting is important as it allows us to search, from different perspectives, solutions to problems from an innovative point of view”.
The event took place on July 26th and 27th in the FIT (Tourism Innovation Factory) in the CDTCA, aimed primarily at those in business, innovators and the public in general. Making presentations were professionals with experience in the relevant fields exploring innovative models in the workplace.
Among the themes dealt with on the first day of the conference was ‘Design Thinking’ with Marcos Herrera Delgado who encouraged participants to “think outside the box” in problem solving. Mónica Dios led the session on a social innovation laboratory, looking at problem solving for companies in parallel with bringing social values into the mix.
On the second day participants heard from Rúben Criado from the Arquimea Research Centre who told those attending that innovation in your workplace can be converted into a socially valuable activity for the company. Agoney Melián, CEO of Valita Formación and cofounder of UEBOS Comunicación explored the power of creativity through various dynamics. “Creative people are those who convert negative situations into solutions”; he said.
The event culminated in a networking session with participants sharing their ideas on how to convert Adeje into an innovation-driven borough, followed by a brunch prepared by the A La Carta students as part of the PFAE alternative training programme run by the CDTCA.
