The councillor for Adeje’s senior citizens, Carmen Lucía Rodríguez del Toro, led the celebrations for the fiesta of Santa Ana yesterday, considered the patron saint of older persons, patron of the Adeje seniors club.
The series of events kicked off at 6pm with a mass sung by the Santa Ana Rondalla in the Santa Úrsula church, with special offerings made during the ceremony, including a collection of food stuffs for the Adeje food bank.
The Adeje José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, congratulated the group and underlines the “importance of valuing experience and the lives lived over the years”.
Before the religious ceremony finished there was a blessing of the new religious setting which will now be a permanent fixture in the department for senior citizens. This is made up of three statues: Santa Ana, San Joaquín and the Virgen Mary , all donated to the group.
Following mass and the blessing there was a procession to the seniors’ centre (ground floor of the Adeje cultural centre), ending with a sit-down meal and music from Toke Latino.
