Today the Adeje councillor for Education and the Vice Rector of the ULL (University of La Laguna) gave details of numbers of participants in each of the courses and workshops that took place this week in Adeje as part of the 29th Adeje Summer University. Overall 328 people attended a course or workshop (8 of each), and nearly 90% of those registered were women.
The Adeje councillor María Clavijo Maza, said, “Both the courses and workshops returned very positive results and we have seen both university students and residents actively taking part in the summer university”.
According to the ULL vice rector for culture and social participation, Juan Albino Méndez, “we are delighted to continue this partnership with Adeje as both the council and the university understand that for society to advance we need to invest in the economy of knowledge”. He said that what was important too was to understand that the university was a public service committed to its location.
In parallel to the courses and workshops, throughout the week there have been outside broadcasts from visiting radio stations on campus in the Adeje Cultural Centre, all interested in finding out more about the direction of this year’s summer university. New additions to the campus included a free care area for the children of either course directors or participants to ensure they could attend the course of their choice.
