Adeje mayor gives the Three Kings the magic key to Adeje homes

A Royal Route through the borough began at 4pm yesterday and ended at midnight in front of the Santa Ursula parish church as the bells rung out

6 january 2022
Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga handed over the magic key that opened Adeje homes to the Three Kings for one night only, at midnight on January 5th.  The Three Kings arrived into the town following an extensive tour of the borough.

The mayor said “we found a new way of celebrating the arrival of The Magi that upheld the hope and illusion this night brings to the people and in particular the children of Adeje.  This is something that we will repeat – with modifications and some improvements.  This year we have seen magic throughout the borough and it has been an incredible experience, rising above current circumstances.  We ask Their Majesties to help end this pandemic, that is fundamental, and bring us health and help us not to lose hope.  I hope that what we have learnt during this pandemic, and from the people of La Palma, is that our united strength, solidarity is what sees us through. We all need each other; this is the way we build a better future for our children”.

The route and arrival of the Three Kings to the parish church was broadcast during the evening and into the night on the Adeje social networks, and live on Canal 4 and Canal 10 television.  On their arrival there was an impressive digital mapping experience on the walls of the church, and then their majesties presented their gifts of gold, incense and myrrh.  The interior of the church was candle-lit and the Adeje school of music choir provided a choral background. The bells rang out and a short fireworks display marked the end of the evening.

The Kings began their journey at 4pm leaving from the Fort House, led by police and fire brigades and a statue of the baby Jesus. The bells of all the churches in the borough rang out as the cavalcade passed.

The event was organised by the cultural department, with the involvement of personnel from different council areas – security, traffic, communications, internal co-ordination and municipal services and with live broadcasts on radio and television throughout the evening and night. The television presentation included interviews with many members of the public, videos and feeds from the different villages as the cavalcade passed through and was presented by Carol Correa and Rayco Vargas.  The large-scale production was in partnership with A4KTV Producgcions.  On Radio Nacho Palacio led his Radio Sur team throughout the afternoon, with live feeds and reports from all over the borough.
