The president of the AMTC (association of Canarian tourism boroughs) and the AMT (Alliance of tourism, sun and beach boroughs in Spain), Jose Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, and the AMTC vice president Onalia Bueno García, with the president of the La Palma Cabildo, Mariano Hernández Zapata, signed an agreement on Monday to collaborate in the recovery plans for the island, including the confirmation of a donation of €50,000 from the two groups.
The announcement followed a meeting of the AMTC which took place in the H10 Hotel Taburiente Playa de Los Cancajos, in La Palma – the venue was chosen by the association to show their support for tourism on the island. Jose Miguel Rodriguez Fraga told media, “The island of La Palma has suffered the terrible consequences of the volcanic eruption which has made headlines all around the world. It has caused terrible damage to a particular part of the island but has consequences for all of La Palma, with thousands of people forced out of their homes and more affected directly and indirectly.
