Adeje Cultural Centre is hosting an exhibition of recycled art works!

The works, created by local school children and their families, are on display to the public until December 20th

11 december 2021
The Adeje department of Education, under councillor Maria Clavijo Maza, and in conjunction with ASCAN-Torrabonaf, have congratulated all the winners of the 2021 ‘Cacharros' (art made from recycled material) competition, CreArte, with winning works currently on display around the Adeje Cultural Centre.  The works were created by pupils from Adeje’s infants and primary schools and their families, part of the annual celebrations of San Andrés.

Councillor María Clavijo Maza commented, “recycled materials are the base resources used in these creations and as is now traditional, pupils from every school has taken part, with their families, and created a terrific selection of artistic creations.

“This is the eleventh year celebrating this event.  It was born out of a desire to celebrate the festival of San Andres in our own way and over the years the idea was honed and perfected continuing to emphasise the importance of recycling as the key part of the competition, while also recognising the talent of our young students, their abilities, their dedication, and their artistic abilities”.

Winning entries
As in past years, entries were awarded prizes taking a number of factors into consideration – artistic perspective, re-use of materials that were, in the main, recycled, originality, family involvement and technical complexity.

As well as forming part of an exhibition, the winning entries and artists also received a voucher for books and school materials. There were 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for each school, sponsored by Ascan-Torrabonaf and Aqualia Entemanser  There were also runner up prizes in some schools, pupils receiving a diploma and a surprise gift.  All participants received a certificate confirming their participation in the competition.
