Activities will begin on December 1st in the Plaza de España

Adeje council, in conjunction with SINPROMI, the insular society supporting persons with disabilities, will begin a series of activities on December 1st in the Plaza de España to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
This year the UN has chosen the theme of ‘Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda’. This will centre on the empowerment of those with disabilities towards inclusivity, equality and sustainable development, as well as the promise to ‘leave no-one behind’ and recognises disability as a cross-cutting issues, to be considered in the implementation of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Activities begin at 9.30am with a collaborative mural and photo call. During the morning there will be different stands and tents with information and personalised attention for members of the public. Among the groups taking part at the CEO Guajara, CEIP La ERA, Hermanas Hospitalarias, Complejo Acamán, ATELSAN, and the Los Olivos occupational centre.
Other initiatives will include the reading of a manifesto which will support a number of petitions to benefit and improve and promote visibility of the lives of those with different needs.
