Recently students in the PFAE Neptuno course training to be lifeguards also received training in how the Blue Flag scheme works, and the criteria needed for a zone or beach to be awarded the flag.
Councillor Manuel Luis Méndez Martin said it was "a very important part of the training, complementing the lifesaving techniques the students are learning, as they are also learning about the environment in which they will be working and how to improve it".
The blue flag training was run over three days with experts in the field.
