To celebrate World Breast Cancer Day Adeje council is organising a pink gathering in the Plaza de España

18 october 2021
October 19th is World Breast Cancer Day, a day when people are asking to remember the importance of early detection as a vital tool in the prevention of breast cancer.  Here in Adeje the council is holding a solidarity gathering in the Plaza de España at midday, demonstrating our support for those with breast cancer and their families.

All are welcome and should, if possible, wear something pink. Participants will also have to wear a face mask and observe social distancing at the event.  The AECC, the Spanish Cancer Association will also have an information table and there will be a large pick ribbon decorating the façade of the Convento. The Plaza de España will be lit in pink on the nights of October 18th and 19th too.

On October 20th the Walk for Life foundation will be hosting a talk on self-esteem especially for those who have or have had any form of cancer. This will be at 6pm, in Spanish, and will be held in the Centre for citizen participation and social harmony in Las Nieves. The event is sponsored by the Caixa Bank social foundation in partnership with Adeje council.

“Adeje council supports all those who have breast cancer through many agreements, economic assistance, and in collaborating with the AECC and the Walk for Life foundation.  All these bodies work together with one aim – to improve the health and quality of life of anyone affected by breast cancer in Adeje”, explained the councillor for health Amada Trujillo Bencomo.
