Adeje and the Asociación Autismo Sur are hosting a summer camp

The Tijoco sports centre is the base for the first ‘inclusive’ summer camp to be held in this part of Tenerife.  Organised by the South Tenerife Autism Association, this is an event for both children with autism and those who are not living with autism spectrum disorder. 

 

The summer camp is being run by specialised professionals in play, sport, education and psychology, organising a range of activites througout the days.  “As well as giving a physical space to the association for the summer camp we are also offering transport” confirmed the Adeje councillors for sport and for special needs, Adolfo Alonso y José Antonio López, respectively.   The event is following all in-place health and safety regulations. 

 

For the association president, Carmen Fernández, being able to host the camp is very important as “every year in the past children with autism have been excluded from summer activities that other young people can attend in sumer months, as there are not personnel qualified to accompany them....but in this case the sitaution is, fortunately, different”.
