Adeje and Leroy Merlin sign an agreement on employment opportunities

The Adeje job centre will be managing job vacancies generated by the new shopping centre being built, due to open in September

Adeje council and Leroy Merlin S.L.U. have signed a working agreement with the aim of improving work opportunities in the borough. With the agreement in place, the Adeje department of economic development and employment, via the borough’s job centre (in the CDTCA) will be managing job opportunities in the new commercial centre currently under construction, for the next two years. The centre is due to open in September.

For Adeje this means a chance of direct employment for up to 130 individuals during a very complicated time in recent history.  The agreement between the council and the company has a one year duration with the option for a further 12 months.  The company will be using the list of those registered as unemployed in the borough, and registered as job seekers with Adeje, to seek people who meet their employment needs.

For its part, Adeje will collaborate in the selection process, facilitate interview offices, etc., so that Leroy Merlin can advance the selection procedure.

Leroy Merlin will commit to letting Adeje know about job vacancies and the qualifications needed to fill each post. The council will advertise the positions and give the company access to the Adeje Global data base, with the authorisation of those currently seeking work.

In no way and at no time does this agreement compromise any contract offered to an employee by Leroy Merlin who have the final say regarding who they hire. There is also no financial gain in this agreement, neither for the company nor the council.
