Radio Sur adds new programmes to the weekly schedule

Sports, seniors, equality, youth, employment and training and news and interviews in English will head up the new afternoon schedules

Adeje’s Municipal radio station, Radio Sur, 107.9FM has announced details of an expansion of the schedule with new programming beginning this week.  From 1pm to 1.30pm, on weekdays there will  programmes dedicated and concentrating on different themes, from sports to youth, activities for the over-60s, employment and training, and the English-language news and features programme English Time also returns to the airways.
 
“The idea is to make the best possible use of the people we have working here in the council to bring the council to the people”, says Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, the councillor in charge.  “There are some very talented people here with know-how in radio and the skill to develop programmes that are of interest to the public. Sport, for instance, the road towards equal rights, the life and times of our older citizens”, he added.  “The new schedule reflects months of work and organisation under Radio Sur director Nacho Palacio, and all those who will be taking on these new programmes – and we want to take quality steps forward”.
 
Tomorrow, April 13th, will be the first of the new programmes, with Fabian Ramos, an actor and cultural organiser, who will produce a programme for and about the over 60s, with news of activities for the age group, music, interviews and fun.  This programme is made in conjunction with the Adeje department for seniors.
 
Wednesdays will see a new programme produced by journalist Monica Radován Pineda, in conjunction with the Adeje Equality Council. Under the theme ‘Déjate de cuentos’ (Let’s hear the story), it will take on themes of breaking moulds, leaving stereotyping behind, and follow news items of relevance and interest.  The programme also has the support of the Fundación Pedro Zerolo and the Factoría Social as well as others. 
 
English Time returns to Radio Sur after a break, and continues to be produced and presented by journalist Clio O’Flynn.  The programme will bring the latest local, national and international news as well as talking to people who matter here and abroad, and inviting comment and questions from the large foreign resident population.  English Time will be broadcast on Thursdays  from 1pm.
 
From next week more new programmes will come on stream, ‘Generación Z’ will be produced by members of the department of youth, presented by Ainhoa Aguilar, singer and promoter.  She will bring information relevant to and about the borough’s younger generation, projects and activities, debates, etc.
 
Dani Ramos, already a well-known sports monitor and speaker, will be at the helm for ‘Adeje en Juego’ (Adeje at play), which will go out on Fridays, with local sporting news and interviews.
 
‘La Farándula’ (Showbiz) will be produced and presented by David Urbano, and bring you the latest news from the world of culture and fun. David’s informal style is perfect for this programme and will entertain as well as inform.
 
Journalist Carol Correa Correa will bring the audience a weekly digest of news on training and employment as well as news from the local business community, in conjunction with the Adeje departments of economic development and education.
