Adeje Town Hall has signed a collaboration agreement with the organisation 'Fundación Canaria para las personas con Sordera' (Funcasor) and its families, to promote employment opportunities for this group. The main objective of the initiative is to improve the quality of life of people with hearing difficulties and their immediate environment, by facilitating their integration into the labour market.

Adeje’s councillor for Economic Activity Promotion and Employment, Mercedes Vargas Delgado, highlighted the Town Hall’s commitment to these organisations, working with them on the selection of the most suitable profiles to meet the needs of companies, while adapting to the specific requirements of people with hearing disabilities.

Mercedes Vargas stated that “as a local authority, we are aware that inclusion is an institutional responsibility and a commitment of this governing group to the public. In this respect, I would like to stress that this agreement is not an isolated action, as we work in a cross-cutting way across all departments. At present, we are developing a Comprehensive Inclusion Plan promoted by Adeje Town Hall’s Department of Social Welfare, led by my colleague Raquel Rodríguez”.

Funcasor representative Asunción Estellés Burguera explained that this agreement represents a real opportunity for people with hearing loss to gain access to dignified and stable employment.

Asunción Estellés also thanked Adeje Town Hall for its support, stating that “this demonstrates the institution’s commitment to social inclusion and to the public”.

Under the terms of the agreement, the organisation will inform the Town Hall of job vacancies it needs to fill, specifying the requirements for each position. The Town Hall will disseminate this information and facilitate applications from candidates registered in its Adeje Global database, with the authorisation of the jobseekers concerned.

Funcasor is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the social and labour inclusion of people with hearing loss in the Canary Islands. Through training, employment and awareness-raising programmes, the organisation works to promote personal autonomy and to foster a more inclusive and accessible society.
