Adeje Town Hall has made progress on the construction of a new tourist information office in Playa Fañabé, a strategic move for the Costa Adeje destination. The initiative has been developed through an inter-administrative agreement with Tenerife Cabildo as part of the programme to renew tourist offices within the Infoten Network, which is due to be submitted for approval at the January council meeting. The aim is to modernise visitor information services, adapting them to new consumer habits and to the destination’s quality standards.
The councillor for Tourism, Patricia Paulsen Fölling, has stated that this new office “will strengthen the destination model we are building in Costa Adeje, where tourist information goes beyond guidance to provide experiences, encourage visitor loyalty and highlight the value of the area”. Paulsen Fölling added that “having an office of this kind in a high-footfall area such as Fañabé will allow us to improve direct visitor care, project an image that is consistent with the destination’s positioning and offer a service aligned with innovation, accessibility and quality”.
The new office, which will replace the one currently in operation, is planned for the seafront promenade at Playa de Fañabé and has been conceived as an open space connected to its surroundings, with a direct relationship with users and an appropriate bioclimatic design. The total investment amounts to 561,632.71 euros, covering both construction and professional project management. Funding for the construction work is being shared equally between Tenerife Cabildo and Adeje Town Hall, while the professional project management is being fully funded by the island authority. The projected execution period is two years.
This infrastructure has been classified as a type A office within the Infoten Network, meaning it is considered an experiential visitor centre. Offices of this type are characterised by generous spaces, advanced technological equipment, up-to-date information content and personalised attention focused on building visitor loyalty. They may also incorporate a shop linked to the Tenerife brand and facilitate the purchase of excursions, tickets or tourism packages.
With the signing of the agreement at the next Adeje Town Hall council meeting, the new Fañabé office will be formally incorporated into the Infoten Network, which entails compliance with a series of operational requirements. These include providing a service 365 days a year, extended opening hours adapted to visitor flows, staff with specific tourism training and language skills, free public wifi connectivity, and the continuous updating of information content in coordination with Turismo de Tenerife.
Once the works have been formally received, Adeje Town Hall will take on responsibility for the maintenance of the facility, preserving the configuration and intended uses set out in the approved project. Costa Adeje currently has three tourist information offices located in Playa Troya, Fañabé and Playa Paraíso. Through this initiative, Adeje strengthens its commitment to a network of modern tourist infrastructures that are coherent and well integrated into the public space, helping to enhance the visitor experience and consolidate the competitiveness of the Costa Adeje destination within the island of Tenerife.
